Malviya National Institute of Technology, a public engineering college was established in the year 1963 at Jaipur, Rajasthan. It is one of the National Institutes of Technology and an Institute of National Importance. This institute is fully funded by MHRD, the Government of India, New Delhi. The Institute formerly known as Malaviya Regional Engineering College(MREC) was established in 1962, as a joint venture of the government of Rajasthan and government of India.In 1963, the college started functioning from its temporary campus at Pilani and on June 26, 2002 the institute was upgraded to a National Institute of Technology(NIT) and was declared as a deemed university.
