IIT Jodhpur is one among the new set of IITs announced by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Govt. of India. IIT Jodhpur is also known as Indian Institute of Rajasthan(IIT Rajasthan). IITJ was established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, in 2008.The classes for the first academic session were held at IIT Kanpur, which had been designated as the mentor IIT for looking after the incubation activities of the new IIT in Rajasthan.
The first academic session in IIT Jodhpur commenced in August 2008. There was a huge controversy regarding the location of IIT Rajasthan and final approval came in the month of November 2009 that IITJ will be located about 12 km from Jodhpur city on National Highway 65 which connects Jodhpur to Nagaur which will cover 900 acres of land around Jhipasni and Gharao villages.

Eligibility: 10+2 with minimum 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and aggregate
Admission Procedure: The Admission for B.Tech programme is made through the JEE
