Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is a non-statutory body created for the convenience of the students seeking admission to the various Law Universities in the Country under Memorandum of Underestandings (MoU). An entrance test is conducted to provide a list of candidates on the basis of 'merit-cum-preference' to eachUniversity for admission to their UG/PG programmes, as per the qualifications, reservation and other conditions laid down under the respective Statutes of the participating Universities. The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is an all India entrance examination conducted on rotation by 16 National Law Universities (NLUs) for admissions to their under-graduate and post-graduate degree programmes (LL.B. & LL.M.).
The Eighth Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2017) is being conducted by the Dr. Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, Lucknow.
The Sixteen NLUs offer a five-year integrated under-graduate law course leading to the award of B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.Sc. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.S.W. LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) degrees.
As per the respective statutes of the participating NLUs, to be eligible to appear in CLAT-2017, a candidate should have obtained a Higher Secondary School/ Intermediate (10+2) or its equivalent certificate from a recognized Board with not less than 45% marks in aggregate (40% in case of SC/ST candidates) and should be below 20 years of age as on 1st July 2017 (22 years in case of SC/ST/Persons with Disability (PWD) candidates).

The information of the LL.M. degree course offered at the various NLUs with the duration and the specializations have been provided in detail under the sections of each University.
Eligibility – To be eligible to appear in CLAT 2017, a candidate should have obtained an LL.B./a five year integrated LL.B./any other equivalent degree from a recognized University with not less than 55% marks in aggregate (50% in case of SC/ST candidates).
Mode of Payment – The online payment can be made through netbanking, debit card, credit card etc. wherein the candidate will have to bear the additional bank transaction costs for remitting the fees through payment gateways.For paying the fee offline through website, the candidate will have to download the ‘Bank Challan’ that will be generated with the required information, as filled in by the candidate, and make the payment with additional bank charges at any branch of the ICICI Bank. After making the requisite payment at the bank, the candidate needs to fill-in the details of the Bank Challan as required at the relevant section of the application form.
Documents to Be Uploaded during Online Application
The admissions to the PG programmes through CLAT-2017 will be done in a centralized manner from the CLAT Office after the counseling session, as mentioned above for the UG programmes, by allotting seats based on the merit cum preference of the candidates furnished during the counseling session. The candidates will be allowed to participate in the online counseling session by depositing the adjustable fees of Rs 50,000/- (Rupees Fifty Thousand Only) through the website with the CLAT Office.
